Skims leaves, pollen, petals, insects, hair and dust off the surface before it sinks. Debris that reaches the bottom has to be vacuumed and it loads your main filter, so catching it while it floats is less work and less strain on the pump.

The one touch docking is genuinely useful. Instead of fishing the unit out with a pole, you send it to the edge from your phone and lift it out.

Dual charging matters in practice. The solar panel runs it in sun, and the DC adapter recharges it in a few hours during stretches of overcast weather so cleaning does not stop.

Note on solar: like any solar device, it performs best on pools that get real sun. On a heavily shaded pool plan on using the DC adapter regularly.

Note on filtration: the 180 micron mesh catches leaves, insects and most visible debris. It is a surface skimmer, not a replacement for your main filter or a bottom vacuum.
