The cell converts dissolved salt in the pool water into chlorine as water passes through it, so the system produces sanitizer continuously while the pump runs. No jugs of chlorine to store, mix or measure.
Sizing note: this is the 40,000 gallon cell. Hayward also makes 25,000 and 15,000 gallon versions, and the sizes are not interchangeable. Check the label on your existing cell before ordering.
Maintenance: inspect the plates periodically and clean scale with a diluted muriatic acid solution when buildup appears. Keep salt levels in the range your control box specifies. Running a cell in low salt or unbalanced water shortens its life significantly.
