Transfer sling and gait belt with handles. New. Black.
Type: caregiver operated transfer and walking assist belt
Handles: reinforced grip handles for the caregiver
Lining: slip resistant
Fastening: adjustable
Color: Black
What this is for
A caregiver places the belt around the waist or torso of the person being helped, then holds the handles to steady them while they stand, pivot, sit or walk. It gives the caregiver a secure grip instead of pulling on an arm or under the shoulders, which is how both people get hurt.
Common uses: bed to wheelchair transfers, chair to standing, walking and gait training, physical therapy, repositioning, and steadying someone who is unsteady on their feet.
Important, please read
This is a caregiver assisted transfer belt. It is not a mechanical lift sling. Do not attach it to a Hoyer lift, a hydraulic patient lift, or any powered lifting device. Full body lift slings are a separate product designed and rated for suspension.
This belt is for people who retain some weight bearing ability and can support themselves partially. Someone who cannot bear any weight needs a mechanical lift, not a transfer belt.
Check the weight rating printed on the belt and stay within it.
Inspect the webbing, stitching and handles before every use. If you find fraying, a loose seam or any change from the last time, stop using it.
If you have not been trained in safe transfer technique, ask a physical therapist or home health nurse to show you. Most injuries in home care happen during transfers, to the caregiver as often as to the patient.
